The Perfect Code For A Dress Code
If you want to catch everybodys eyes in a party then you need to follow certain codes and rules that can make you the center of attraction wherever you go.
Think of partywear05 trends as the darker, richer version of spring and summer trends: turquoise turns to teal, gauze becomes wool, and camisoles become romantic blouses. Designers have revived the favorites that make sense to most women such as black (the universal colour of chic) and tail boots (no ridiculous bare legs and sandals anymore). Sample a bit from each party wear fashion trend and personalize it with jewellery, colour and layering.

Black is the colour:
Of late, everyone is screaming that black is back. But hang on a minute... when was it out of fashion? Superstar Shah Rukh Khan swears by it, as do many others. "It is one colour which can make anyone look slim and chic in whatever form it is worn," says designer Mandira Wirk.

"Whenever I am having a hard time deciding what to wear for a party, I simply go for black because I know then I wont go wrong," says model Shefali Talwar.

Unlike the minimalist appeal of black in the past, it now has pretty embellishments, full volume, soft fabrics and other intriguing details to make it not-so-basic black.

Soft and feminine:
"Femininity and softness rules the roost. Halter-necks are also as popular as the off-shoulder ones," says Nainika of the designer duo Gauri-Nainika.

If you are designer Anna Singh then this might not surprise you, but for the rest of you, the news flash is that animal prints can be worn to parties other than those theme parties as well.

Volume dressing:
Worn with a fitted topper (jacket, shrug, cape, etc.) and paired with tall boots, the full skirt takes on a new look for fall. Designers Rohit Bal and Rajesh Pratap feel that voluminous skirts are easy to carry off by women of all shapes and sizes. And they look good too.

Volume also comes in full gauchos and culottes, or loose, dolman-sleeve tops.

The key to wearing volume without looking sloppy is to pair a full item with a slim item (dolman-sleeve sweater with skinny jeans or full skirt with a fitted top).

Volume can also mean layering. Designer Anjana Bhargav feels that adding layers to a long skirt can make you look taller and slimmer. "There is so much you can do when layering a garment such as add embroidery on one layer and top it with a sheer fabric." says Anjana.

Boots and stilettos:
Tall, to-the-knee boots are the best footwear option for everything from full skirts to gauchos. A new, flat silhouette in tall boots is new, as is the wedge heel.

Lace-up styles, ruched looks and croc embossing are great alternatives to basic leather boots. Of course, nothing can beat stilettos-they go with everything from cocktail sarees to Indo-western outfits.

Big bags:
From oversized hobo bags to large structured styles, the bold bag is this seasons must-have. Diva and fashion vista Rekha has been carrying them everywhere from parties to shopping (thats also partying, isnt it!). While luggage-sized satchels are around, the most manageable sizes are slightly oversized.

Wear from last season:
Boho: Layer your tiered skirts with a cropped jean jacket for cooler weather.
Metallic shoes and bags: Still hot!
Cropped pants: Wear with tall boots or long coat for a cool long-over-short look.
Shrugs: Layer shrugs and tie-front ballet tops over long camisoles and sheer tops. Pair with denim or cropped pants.
Chunky, ethnic jewellery: Mixes great with falls teals and browns.

The meaning of casual:
If youre going to a trendy party or nightclub, then dress the part. Even if the dress code is casual, this means, wear a nice pair of pants, a classy shirt and dressy shoes. In other words, dont wear jeans, a cotton t-shirt and sneakers. And even if youve got the right style on top, dont spoil your look by wearing trainers.

On the same note, make sure the people you go with know the rules too.
