Get The Perfect Hair
Everyone has bad hair days when your hair does not support your favourite hairstyle. Using the correct styling products can solve this problem
All the hair you'll ever have on your head is determined at birth. That's because hair grows from a root in your scalp and the number of roots cannot be changed. Each hair grows from the root to a certain length depending on your genetic makeup, then slows down, then stops naturally. You can help make your hair grow longer by taking good care of it: gentle brushing, mild shampoos, regular gentle scalp massages, and limited coloring and perms. You can increase the volume of individual hairs, and thus make your hair appear more full, with protein shampoos and conditioners that coat each shaft accordingly.

But though how manageable your hair is depend on your genetic makeup, there are several products available on the market that can help you style your hair to your satisfaction. These are detailed below. But remember: No matter what product you opt for, you have to ensure that it contains no alcohol as this does maximum damage to your hair. Also, pick out products with adequate UV sunscreen protection and moisturizing characteristics to ensure your hair remains healthy.

Hair gel
Hair gels allow you to sculpt a particular hairstyle for yourself. They can keep your hair looking sharp and sexy. But whether you select gel in a tube, jar or spray form, beware of overuse. Hair gel basically is a stiffening agent. Its results are similar to, but stronger than, those of hair spray and weaker than those of hair glue.

How to use it:
Dispense the necessary amount in one hand and use both hands to rub it into towel-dried hair. Style the hair to your liking. Blow-dry if you want maximum hold or dry naturally for a shiny look.

Benefit:
It will cement your hairstyle for hours.

Drawback:
You will get your hands sticky if restyling is needed throughout the day.

Hair spray
Hairsprays are sticky, quick-drying liquids sprayed on the hair to keep it in place. Hair spray (or hair lacquer) is a common household aqueous solution that is used to keep hair stiff or in a certain style. Weaker than hair gel, wax, or glue, it is sprayed using a pump or aerosol spray nozzle. Its active ingredient is the chemical elastesse, a form of liquid elastic that keeps the hair stiff without snapping it. Most hair sprays are scented.

How to use it:
Spray evenly across your hair. Blow dry or let dry. Stay away from an open flame and lit cigarettes.

Benefit:
Easy to apply (3-4 sprays), and your hands don't get dirty.

Drawback:
Many hairsprays have a strong odour, and when too much is used, it can give your hair a crunchy and dry texture.

Hair mousse
Hair mousse is a toiletry consisting of aerosol spray foam, which is added to hair for extra volume and shine.

How to use it:
Shake the bottle, dispense a small amount in one hand and apply to your hair with both hands. Style your hair and blow dry for maximum hold.

Benefit:
Mousse allows you to re-style your hair throughout the day without the stickiness factor.

Drawback:
Quality hair mousse is not cheap and might lack holding strength.

Pomade
A pomade is a perfumed ointment that makes the hair look slick. It does not dry and often takes several washings to get it out of the hair. Most pomades contain petroleum jelly (in fact, petroleum jelly may be used alone as a pomade) and mineral oil, and many also contain some sort of wax

How to use it:
Skim a small quantity on fingers. Rub your fingers together and apply to your hair.

Benefit:
Only tiny quantities are needed and it gives great texture.

Drawback:
When you use too much, your hair might look greasy.

Hair wax
Hair wax is a styling product especially used in long hair. A classic type is made of Vaseline, lanolin, perfume, mineral oil and sometimes-microcrystalline wax. Wax is often applied to the ends of razored, choppy styles for separation, texture and shine. It may also be used at the roots to add texture and volume. Wax offers an over-all harder, stiffer finish than hair gels.
