What is Hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a method of boring your conscious mind so that it relaxes and stops thinking, much the same as when you go to bed at night just before you actually fall to sleep.

In hypnosis, your mind becomes less active, but you remain awake. At this point, your subconscious is especially receptive to suggestions. It is your subconscious mind that responds and causes those suggestions to manifest in your life.

The subconscious mind is like an obedient servant. It just does what it is told to do. It doesn't think, reason or rationalize. Conversely, your conscious mind thinks reasons and rationalizes and often argues what you want. This is why the conscious mind needs to be relaxed and quieted so it won't argue against what you are instructing your subconscious mind to do.

This process is called hypnosis. Self-hypnosis means you hypnotize yourself. When someone else hypnotizes you, it is just called 'hypnosis.' There is no difference in the process or results between 'self-hypnosis' and 'hypnosis.'

Through hypnosis, you are able to improve your life in any way you choose by directly instructing your subconscious mind in what you want to achieve. Repetition and reinforcement of the suggestions are usually needed because your subconscious mind needs to be told repeatedly what do to in order to convince it that is really what you want. This is because most people change their minds frequently, signaling the subconscious not to take them seriously. However, you can remain consistent with the suggestions and convince your subconscious mind of what you want, watch out because it will become reality. Hypnosis is very powerful, so be sure of what you program your subconscious mind for because you will get it.

Misconceptions & Myths

1) Loss of Consciousness:
Most people think that hypnosis is an unconscious or out of this world state. Some people also feel that in hypnosis one goes into deep sleep. But, this is absolutely wrong. In fact, you are aware of what is happening with a focused attention. Actually, it is a state in between wakefulness and sleep. You can call it "trance."

2) Surrender of will:
Another misconception is that the person who is hypnotized surrenders his will to the "all powerful" hypnotist. But as a matter of fact, nothing can be done against your will. No one can be hypnotized if one doesn't want to, without one's willingness or co-operation.

3) Weak Minded:
There is a great idea that only weak-minded people can be hypnotized. Once again this is false. If a person can be easily hypnotized that indicates above the average intelligence.

4) Revelation of Secrets:
In hypnosis you are totally aware of your surrounding. You have complete control over your mind. So there is no question of reveling your secrets if you are not willing to do so.

5) Fear of not being De-Hypnotized:
A wrong conception prevails in most people that if you get stuck in hypnosis you can never come out. Actually, even if the hypnotist doesn't bring you out of this state, your own mind can pull you out of this. You can simply open your eyes and you'll be wide-awake and absolutely normal, or else you might just go of to normal sleep for some time.

6) Only a Dominant Personality with Piercing Eyes can hypnotize:
In fact, a person who is more friendly and approachable but quite strong and confident can be a good hypnotist, of course after learning all the required skills.
